AS I stated before I like to be closer to the French Quarter, because we had to take cabs or the trolley to get there. Solo Traveler
This was my first time staying in a hotel in New Orleans and it was a great experience. I was in town for a family wedding and stayed for a week. I checked in and immediately the hotel staff made me feel welcomed. There was complimentary lemonade on the day I checked in. The agent who checked me in upgraded me to a room with a river view since I was staying for a week. The room was nice and clean. There were two restaurants in the hotel, one of which was the originator of charbroiled oysters in the city of New Orleans. The Hilton was just outside of the French Quarter but well within walking distance of tourist attractions and great eateries. Harrah's casino is right next door as is the New Orleans Aquarium, the new insectarium and the riverboat, Creole Queen. Because of its distance from the heart of the French Quarter, the hotel is quieter than most. This is definitely great for business travelers. There is a complete business center, WiFi offered at a cost and 90,000 square foot gym complete with basketball courts, tennis courts, saunas, free weights, Nautilus machines, racketball and squash courts and massage for a cost of $10 a day.
